Lyrics: Sunn raha hai na tu (Aashiqui 2)

First things first. I absolutely hate this "sequel" fever in Bollywood right now. Does anyone even know the meaning of "sequel"? An entirely different movie with no connection with the original movie doesn't become a sequel just 'coz it has same cast as the original. Sometimes even the cast is not same. What's common in Raaz series and Murder series of movies?? These are just ploy to ride on the success of the original. (There might be exceptions where a sequel movie is really a sequel. Example - Dabanng2). Hence, I don't look forward to any 'sequel' movie in Bollywood. Every movie is a new movie.

That said, I had high expectations from the soundtrack of Aashiqui 2. First because of the name (I guess this is why movie makers reuse the name of hit movies and add 2, 3, 4 to those names. 'Coz people expect them to be good). And secondly, songs of Vishesh films' movies are more or less always good. And I'm glad it doesn't disappoint this time too. The songs are good and have beautiful lyrics. The song in the first teaser - "Tum hi ho" was my instant favorite. Then T-Series released this "Love anthem of the year" song - "Sunn raha hai na". I won't go as far as calling it a love anthem; but there's certainly something about this song that feels powerful. I cried couple of times while singing along. There's another song in this album that makes me sob - "Bhula dena mujhe.... Tujhe jina hai mere bina". Guess I'm a sucker for pain.

Anyways, I'm here today to post - not any new - but a little older song. This one is from a punjabi movie named "Virsa" starring Arya Babbar. The song is titled "Main Tenu Samjhawan Ki", sung beautifully by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. I had listened to it long time back. But it resurfaced and been ruling my mind after I watched this unplugged version of the song -

Any movie that stars Imran Khan is bound to have some nice songs. And if that movie is made by Dharma Productions, rest assured that you are gonna get some peppy music. The soundtrack of “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu” doesn’t disappoint. But there aren’t any awesome tracks either. The only track that I found worth putting up here is the “Aahatein” track.

There are two versions of the song - original and remix. Original is sung by Karthik & Shilpa Rao while the remix version is sung by Shekhar Ravjiani & Shilpa Rao. Oh, and I also tried my voice on both of them. Tried to do a karaoke, with the songs playing in background. All the four tracks are present in the player below. Update: - First posted on 6th July, 2010. Pulling it up, on relevance. Have always loved this song and now that this song defines the stage I am at, it's more meaningful than ever. It's like someone gave words to the pain inside. Singing this song soothes me a little bit, while a silent lonely tear drop finds its way from corner of the eye to the tip of chin.

When you are talking about the music of a Dharma production movie, you can be rest assured that it is going to be great. The first song that started airing for the latest movie from their stable - “I hate LUV storys”, starring Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor – ‘Jab mila tu’ was instant hit. And then ‘Bin Tere’ was shown. This is indeed a good song. But you ain’t heard nothing if you haven’t heard the Reprise version of the same. Shekhar Ravijiani sung it superbly and not once do you feel any disconnect. And the only instrument used in this whole song is an acoustic guitar. Last song where just an acoustic guitar created such a magic was ‘Dard-e-Tanhai’ of Jashnn.

I listened to this song on my laptop on repeat mode for an hour or so yesterday. And then transferred it to my cell and listened to it while I drifted into sleep. It’s just a magical number. Wanna give a big hug to every one associated with the making of this piece. @kjohar25, @1mrankhan, @sonamakapoor.. and the whole team. A big Thumbs Up to you all.

This is one song you won't hear in any movie or private album. I came across this song in a forum and been a devotee of sorts of this song ever since. There are several versions of 'origin' story of this song. One of them is -
Sung by Rohan Rathore from IIT Guwahati. He was suffering from cancer. He sang this song for Supriya, a girl he loved more than anything and anyone in the world. Unfortunately she didn’t return his love but this song was something he felt he had to do. He died just 15 days after recording this song.

Well, this story might be true or not, the song does touch heart. The lyrics are touching and the voice simply penetrates your senses. There was a time when I used to listen to this song every night and cry myself to sleep. Check it out below.

When I woke up this morning, I was feeling very very low. The last dream that I just woke up from was so sweet. But it’s never gonna turn into reality. That ship has sailed. I had a story in mind, wanted to post it on G@P. But eventually didn’t.

Towards the evening, while browsing a forum, came across a song titled “Feeling so lonely”, composed apparently by a student of IIT Guwahati who wrote that song for his girlfriend but died of brain cancer later. :( Downloaded the song. It’s really a sweet & heart touching song. And that reminded me of “Teri Yaadein”.

If there is one song that I can never forget, one song that will stay with me till my last breath, one song that is ‘mine’ – it’s that song. “Teri yaadein” from Anurag Basu’s “Love Story”, which iused to air on SAB TV.

This song is just so so sweet – every singly person in my family just loves this song. EVERY SINGLE PERSON. And me…. it’s like my anthem, my air and breath. I have no words to express how I feel about this song.

Today's a special day in my life. More precisely, it was a year ago. 24th May 2009. Today's the 1st anniversary of that 1st kiss. But we are not together now to celebrate it. And thus, this song is fitting.

Mora piya moh se bhoolat Bolat nahi; from Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif starer Raajneeti.

Had heard it on Radio One once on my way to office. Loved it instantly. But sadly, never got to hear it fully again. The trailers on TV cover only few lines. Last verse [antara] is never shown. Anyway, I just can't live with this song not being here on my blog. So, I did a google search. Pathetically, non of the result lyrics make a complete sense. Hence, I'm using a simple common-sense and giving here the lyrics. Still not sure whether it is 'bhoolat nahi' or 'bolat nahi'...!! I'm sticking to the 'bhoolat nahi', as I like that better. The lyrics is indeed 'Bolat nahi'.

Damn, can't believe I hadn't posted the lyrics of 'Main Chala' from Jashn here before. That's my 'song of the day'. Been listening to it since morning, every now and then; even while working. [On headphones, silly.] The magic that Nouman created on this number, with just an acoustic guitar for most part of the song, is unbelievable. The song touches my soul and becomes my friend in loneliness. It's inexplicable.

There's a new trend in the making, for quite some time now. Sad songs in an upbeat tone. Unless you pay attention to the lyrics, they'd seem like a party or 'night-club' song. First such song I guess was 'Ye Dil, Deewana' from Pardesh. Nobody tried this again until recent years. Will list some of them here when I have time.

The latest addition to songs of this genre is - 'Jao Naa' from the Harman Baweja, Priyanka Chopra starer "What's your Raashee". Tune is quite catchy. I specially like the guitar play. Fast, full of energy and awesome. Sadly, it has only one 'antara' and ends in around 4mins. :( Hope it was longer.

They say "Don't listen to sad songs when you are sad". But who cares? Advices are for giving. Not following. And me.... I'm a big sucker of Pain. So, last night, after returning from work at 3 AM, I made a new playlist on my cell's walkman and listened to it for couple hours.

And who says only sad songs can make you cry. Even good nice songs have that power. The songs that remind me of my happy days, my days with my Girl, the beautiful moments that are impossible now.

Right now, I'm regretting getting my hands on this album so late. Got the MP3 only last night, along with the movie. God, What I've been missing all these days...!! How can I?




The jewel of this album are songs sung by Nauman. He's sung each of his song with the perfect amount of passion and dedication. So much so that the 'heroin ka bhai' had a change of heart after hearing the hero, who's his sworn enemy even couple of mins ago, sing the song.

I like this song much much more than the other two songs of the movie - 'Aaya Re' and 'Nazrein kaha' - being played on FMs over and over. Hasn't anyone noticed this one yet? Don't miss this excellent song. Hats off to Nauman. Attaboy. Here's the song.

Was listening to some random songs in office to refresh myself when suddenly this song started playing. And college days came to my mind when we used to see any movie that came in our way. That's how we ended up watching 'Arya'. I quite liked the movie and was eager to watch other superhit regional movies. And that's how I saw 'Bommarillu'. The fact that Siddharth and Genelia were in this movie was an added bonus.

This is the 2nd best song of the movie. Even though I didn't understand a single word of it when I first listened to it, it touched my heart. As they say, Music knows no boundaries. Everytime I hear this song, it always sounds fresh.
