When I had first listened to the songs of “Ek Deewana Tha”, I was largely disappointed. Javed Akhtar and A R Rahman came together and this is what they create..!! I liked two or barely three songs in the entire album, having 12 or so tracks. One of them is Hosanna. Others are "Dost hai hum toh" and "Aromale". Though other songs also grow on you slowly. This evening I was killing time watching random YouTube videos when someone named Tonni pinged me using the chat box in this blog and asked me for the lyrics of Teri Yaadein by Shrey Singhal. I hadn't heard of this song earlier. Hence I did a quick Google search and listened to the song on - YouTube again. Liked the song. In case you haven't heard it before, check it out below. Any movie that stars Imran Khan is bound to have some nice songs. And if that movie is made by Dharma Productions, rest assured that you are gonna get some peppy music. The soundtrack of “Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu” doesn’t disappoint. But there aren’t any awesome tracks either. The only track that I found worth putting up here is the “Aahatein” track.

There are two versions of the song - original and remix. Original is sung by Karthik & Shilpa Rao while the remix version is sung by Shekhar Ravjiani & Shilpa Rao. Oh, and I also tried my voice on both of them. Tried to do a karaoke, with the songs playing in background. All the four tracks are present in the player below. Update: - First posted on 6th July, 2010. Pulling it up, on relevance. Have always loved this song and now that this song defines the stage I am at, it's more meaningful than ever. It's like someone gave words to the pain inside. Singing this song soothes me a little bit, while a silent lonely tear drop finds its way from corner of the eye to the tip of chin.

When you are talking about the music of a Dharma production movie, you can be rest assured that it is going to be great. The first song that started airing for the latest movie from their stable - “I hate LUV storys”, starring Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor – ‘Jab mila tu’ was instant hit. And then ‘Bin Tere’ was shown. This is indeed a good song. But you ain’t heard nothing if you haven’t heard the Reprise version of the same. Shekhar Ravijiani sung it superbly and not once do you feel any disconnect. And the only instrument used in this whole song is an acoustic guitar. Last song where just an acoustic guitar created such a magic was ‘Dard-e-Tanhai’ of Jashnn.

I listened to this song on my laptop on repeat mode for an hour or so yesterday. And then transferred it to my cell and listened to it while I drifted into sleep. It’s just a magical number. Wanna give a big hug to every one associated with the making of this piece. @kjohar25, @1mrankhan, @sonamakapoor.. and the whole team. A big Thumbs Up to you all.

Frankly, I didn't have much expectations from this album - Players, an Abbas-Mustan movie. And I was kinda surprised to find its songs aren't that bad. In fact, couple of them are good. The first 4 tracks are just alright. But track 5 & 6 are the stars of this album. Track 5 is "Dil Ye Bekarar Kyun Hai" which has 3 versions and track 6 is "Kyun Dooriyan (Jhoom Jhoom Ta Hun Main)", which has another 'film version'. This is the one I like most in this album. Listen to it and you'll find your feet tapping.

Poem: Phir Ek Cigarette Jala Raha Hu

When a heart breaks, the pain it causes can't be described in words. And no one can soothe the ache. Different people deal with it in different ways. Some take up drinking, some smoke, some cut themselves and some do something extreme; all in the hope that the resulting damage/suffering will numb the pain in their heart. But - it's like lighting a match to outshine a midday sun.

Disclaimer first off - this is not an entirely original poem. Saw a poem on the facebook page of Mera beta engineer banega. Yea, funny name. This page mostly posts jokes. But once in a while, there are meaningful and heart touching stuff there. Like that poem.

Anyway, I changed the lines here and there. And when I was translating the finished poem, as I post English translation of all the stuff I post on this blog, the literal translation was lacking the feel of the original. Hence instead of translating, created English version of the poem. Compare the Hindi and English versions and let me know which one you like better.

I haven't written anything original in a long long time and had been out of touch of this side of myself. There's been a lot of upheavals in past couple of years and now I stand at a cross-road in my life. One road turns my life around & makes my life worth living. The other one just continues on the same path I've been trading so far, if not more treacherous. Catch is, which path I get to walk on - that is not up to me anymore.

Anyway, one line was in my mind since last Friday. And while I was lazing on my bed this morning, that one line lead to other lines and it took the form of a shayari (romantic poem). And I myself was surprised that it turned out to be quite good without much effort. [Surprised 'coz I always sucked at poetry.] Check it out -

Imran Khan [ @1mrankhan ] is ready with his next release, titled "Mere brother ki dulhan". First time I had seen the movie's wallpaper, it had Imran and Katrina. So, I naturally assumed they play siblings in this movie and the movie about Katrina's bonds/conflict with his brother Imran's fiance. Turns out that's not the case. It's about Imran maroing line on his brother's dulhan Katrina.

Anyway, the music of the movie is not so great and yet catchy. Among all the songs, the one that I liked instantly was "Choomantar". Seriously, it should be spelled as - Chhoomantar. If you use Ch to spell छ, how are you going to spell च? And oh, I specially like the chip&Dale [or should I say Alvin's chipmunks] rendering of "Oh baby oh baby" part of the song is brilliant and awww..

After the success of READY, Salman Khan is ready with his next release titled "Bodyguard", which also stars Kareena Kapoor. As far as I can remember, this is first time they are coming together after "Kyun Ki". There are huge expectations from this movie, which is releasing on auspicious occasion of Eid. This is touted as a heavy dose action flick, but by looking at the promos, it looks more like a comedy film with Rajnikant style actions thrown in.

Anyway, the title song of the movie, which is being claimed to be "Faadu" is actually pan-stall kinda song. There's only one good song in the album, which is "I love you". Another song "Teri Meri prem kahani" is just ok ok. Both of them have 3 versions, for crying out loud. Other songs are worthless.

So, Salman is still hung-over from the success of Wanted. First “Dabanagg” and now “Ready”. Similar mannerism in all movies. He has nothing new to offer and still, his fan following doesn’t recede. Now, that’s some star power.

Anyway, there’s only one good song in the movie and that is “Character Dheela”. Once you hear the song, you get no points for guessing it is sung by Neeraj Shridhar, composed by Pritam and picturised on Salman. Typical dhin-chak song. Makes you groove. Nothing great though. Check it out.

The song 'Tonight', from 'Luv Ka The End' is about a girl who is nervous though excited about her 'first night out' with her boyfriend. You know, I can picture 18-24 age-group girls going ga-ga over this song. It can really turn out to be equal to "Pehla nasha" song of young girls. Even guys love this song and wish their girlfriend sings it for them. :-) Just the perfect amount of innocence in the vocals is truly mesmerizing. The jazz scatting is just 'awwwwww' inspiring. And the end of the song ... it sounds like a little girl falling asleep. You just can not 'not love' this song. Check it out -
